This was my second trip with En Via, the first was several years ago with my adult daughters. What a joy it was to again witness the incredible work of this organization. Last week my 17-year-old grandson accompanied me on the En Via tour and of the week we spent in and around the environs of Oaxaca, he rated this experience as his favorite. We visited incredibly talented, creative women entrepreneurs ~ weavers, restaurant owners, a weaver who has added an Airbnb guest room to their family farm/compound, a barber (my grandson was so impressed, he allowed her to cut his hair!), a teacher turned garlic farmer who is now packaging and marketing her garlic products. All were successful, impressive women business-owners assisted by En Via whose interest-free loan paradigm is innovative ~ empowering women to become self-reliant.
Cherie, our guide for the day, is a retired Spanish teacher from the U.S. and practically a full-time En Via volunteer. She's knowledgeable, engaging and very efficient...an asset to En Via to be sure. It was an informative, delightful day! We'll return to Oaxaca and check in with En Via again soon!
